Business Need:
Recognizing that the adventure travel industry was gaining momentum and that Discovery Trek's consistent and continued growth was grounded in word of mouth referrals, a business decision was made to focus the company's future marketing efforts online and capitalize on the reshaped marketplace by informing a wider audience of the rewarding experiences the out-of-doors has to offer.

Process and Solution:
Increasing site traffic to DiscoveryTreks.com, generating conversions from the increased traffic, strengthening Discovery Trek's brand, and laying the foundation for future growth of Discovery Treks would be handled in stride over a 12 week period which would be broken down in measurable increments.

Following conversations regarding organic optimization the Lunchbox team crafted a model that would focus on humanizing a family of Discovery Treks web sites while simultaneously addressing the needs of the Search Engines by:

  • Organically optimizing discoverytreks.com
  • Designing, constructing, and optimizing Micro sites to support premier Adventure destinations
  • Constructing a Southwest Adventure Travel Portal and resource center which is sustained by outdoor enthusiasts and Discovery Trek's personnel
  • Constructing a Southwest Vacation Planner to fuel passive and active revenue channels while encouraging eco-tourism

Pay-off:
After a mere 4-1/2 weeks of interviews, prototyping, designing, and building the new DiscoveryTreks.com web presence, the flagship site was ready for soft launch.

Four days following the release of the soft launch the new web site went from invisible status to being ranked number 1 in Google for each of the sites desired primary keyword sets and soared into the top 10 for all of the secondary keyword sets based solely on organic optimization.

Invigorated by the initial results the team continues to push the prototyping and implementation of the Micro Sites and Portal components of the project in an effort to position Discovery Treks as the preeminent travel resource for Southwest Family and Adventure Travel.
